West Fargo Dive Bar runs a meat raffle every Sunday. It is exactly what it sounds like — you buy tickets, your number gets called, you win a pack of meat. Simple, loud, and a genuinely good time. What Is a Meat Raffle?
If you grew up in North Dakota or anywhere in the Upper Midwest, you already know. If you did not — here is the deal. A meat raffle is a weekly bar tradition where tickets are sold for a chance to win packages of meat. Usually steaks, pork chops, burger patties, chicken — real cuts from a real butcher, not grocery store fare. Winners are drawn throughout the afternoon or evening, numbers get called, and somebody walks out with dinner for the week.
